Art as game and game as Art.

Gema Goig's artistic work suggests two levels of interpretation: one that is simple and sensitive, and one that is deep and intellectual. The two complement each other like unreality and reality, waking and dreaming, evocation and forgetting, having and being.

The world of synthesis that she offers us helps us to enter a state of intimate and reflective silence. It shows us a path of magic, of fantasy, just like a theory of memory and the play of creation. To be an object, a construction in a space, timeless, without references, where there is neither fear nor pity, where one does not transform things; where there is only the game which overwhelms us, which frames us, which guides us like the yellow tiles towards the world of Oz.

A pure work, light of baggage, straightforward, without special effects, never confused with the simple or the naive. Its highly worked backgrounds based on different layers and techniques ranging from engraving to printing on paper, and which are able to evoke different dimensions and depths. She takes care of her compositions with the difficult choice of situating the object to achieve the balance of the composition and its forms. It does not speak to us of infantile play but of that of the adult, or rather, of the play that the adult recalls, carried by the force of his own frame, and remembered from a literary and silent thought.

Gema Goig manages to light up the darkness of the depths and darken the clarity of objects, to the point of causing concern...
